Basic Details:
BIG SUR CAMPOUT! An Amazing Weekend filled with:
Awesome river floats, waterfalls, hiking, and campfires w/ new friends!
Many people consider Big Sur as the most beautiful stretch of the California coastline, & we will be staying at an awesome campground surrounded by redwoods! Our days will be spent on gorgeous ocean-view hikes, tubing/swimming in the river, chilling in the hammock, sea glass hunting and flying kites on the beach. Nights spent enjoying sunsets around the campfire, and sleeping under the stars! We've been going to Big Sur for years, if you have never been, it's time!
What to Expect:
If you talk to any Californian, BIG SUR is on their list of most beautiful locations in California. This is an awesome camping / hiking / beaches / extraordinary weekend! This unique camping location is normally very difficult to reserve. We know the best spots to escape the crowds and get the best views! We are staying in a beautiful campsite voted one of America's Top 100 Campsites!
Itinerary
Day 1:
Welcome to Big Sur! After arriving, we will set up camp. Then it's off to watch the sunset over the ocean.
We will spend the night getting to know the group around a warm fire. Your host will prepare a light camp dinner, and the group will gather for card games, s'mores, and starry skies!
Better to GET THERE EARLY: Arrive when you can. However, for those that are able to get to Big Sur earlier, we will catch the sunset! Check in for the campsite is 4pm, and that is when your host will arrive. (It is also helpful to have more daylight to set up your tent!!)
Day 2:
Rise and Shine! When you wake up, coffee will be waiting! We will have a breakfast of champions prepared by our awesome host. After breakfast, sandwich supplies will be provided, and we will all pack our sack lunches for our day hike.
Our hike will bring us to the Big Sur Gorge. This is a moderate hike at around 5.5 miles round trip, offering outstanding views on the Big Sur River and lush redwood forests! The Big Sur Gorge trail will bring us to a series of gorgeous natural swimming holes, with turquoise blue water and sandy beaches.
After the hike, the rest of our Saturday afternoon is free time to choose your own adventure. Head to the beach to fly a kite, do some whale watching from the bluffs, or hang out at camp to socialize and play games. While your host prepares a camping dinner feast and gets the fire going, the rest of the group will get drinks pouring (BYOB), play games, and help out with cooking or prep as needed. We'll spend the night eating, drinking, dancing, and telling campfire stories, so let's do it right and live it up for our last night in Big Sur!
Day 3:
We will start our last day right with coffee and a delicious breakfast! Then it's time to pack up camp, check out is by 12pm. We'll all start the drive back home, with a pit-stop at the famous McWay Falls, and the Bixby Bridge for a photo op. There's a lot of great vistapoints and pull-offs to explore on the way home, so if you have the extra time, we recommend doing a little extra exploring on your own before finishing the drive home.
