California is a puzzle to California's vast geology: jungle, desert, mountains all in one place... The park is also well known for its numerous caves and its one of a kind rock formations.
Saturday Hikes are a great way to get out and meet new members,
let's get together and explore this incredible world.
The Hike is an excellent way to experience nature, It is a 5.4 mile trail that will take us through the wreckage of a volcano and rock formations. If we get lucky, we will spot some of the rare California condors! Please note: trail selection is subject to change depending on weather and trail conditions.
This hike is rated as intermediate, we will have to clamber over rocks and go through some humid caverns. The park is known for its high temperatures, so make sure to bring enough water with you. Total elevation change is about 1,600 ft.
We will have snacks, water & light lunch for you to enjoy at the mid-point of the hike. You can bring something special if you want.

Attire:
- Dress in light-colored clothing to protect you from the sun.
- Wear sturdy shoes that can handle water and rocks.
- Bring a raincoat just in case! This hike will be done in rain or shine.
Your host suggests you bring:
- 2+ Liters of water for yourself (it can be hot)
- A headlight (for the caves and such)
- Sunscreen & sunhat
