The sun is shining, the days are long, and it's the perfect time to lace up those hiking boots! Let's embark on a awesome summer hike in the East Bay that promises gorgeous views of a shimmering reservoir and rolling hills. Who knows, we might even have some wildlife sightings ? we've seen deer and wild turkeys here in the past! So, why not escape the hustle and bustle, and join us for an unforgettable outdoor adventure in the scenic wonderland of Lafayette, CA?

Hike & Picnic at the Lake!
With the Summer Solstice a mere few days before our hike, we have the luxury of enjoying the longest days of the year. This makes it the opportune time to get out and take a leisurely stroll around the reservoir. This trail is well maintained and listed as moderate on AllTrails.
What to Expect:
Enjoy a relaxing afternoon of light hiking with UD friends along the trails of the Lafayette Reservoir. We'll meander our way around the reservoir along the Rim Trail looking down at the water. The trail is a fire road and should be fairly easy going with some hilly sections.
Join us in hiking this 5 mile loop trail along the Rim Trail around Lafayette Reservoir. There will be broad sweeping views of the area overlooking the water below. We'll pass lots of black oak and coast live oak trees. The park, situated amidst a Bay Area suburb, feels like a true escape into nature due to the hills surrounding it, which effectively isolate it from the nearby neighborhoods. AllTrails lists this hike as moderate with just over 900 feet of elevation gain.

Mandatory Water - failure to bring sufficient water may disqualify you from joining us
85+ degrees: 3 liters of water + salty snacks

Attire: Active casual - dress in layers
