Big Hike Sunday:
Cataract Falls in Mt. Tamalpais!
Nestled about an hour north of San Francisco, Cataract Falls is a true Bay Area gem. This trail is breathtaking, and brings us to multiple waterfalls situated in the heart of the Mt. Tamalpais Watershed, near the scenic Stinson Beach in Marin County, California. Towering at an impressive height of approximately 300 feet, Cataract Falls ranks as one of the tallest waterfalls in the region. The trail journey to Cataract Falls treats us to a tapestry of enchanting woodland scenery, a heart-pumping uphill adventure, and the ultimate prize—unobstructed views of the falls and the picturesque canyon that cradles it.
What to Expect:
A beautiful, view-tastic hike around Mount Tamalpais Watershed and Cataract Falls. We'll meet new friends, soak in the North Bay sunshine and openness, get our steps in, enjoy the gorgeous views and beautiful waterfalls and have a great time! Expect to sweat a little bit, but the gorgeous views will make it well worth it in the end. With a little luck, we might get a crystal clear day and have views for days and picture perfect memories!
This is a moderate hike, about 5.6 miles with a good mix of strenuous uphill, switchbacks and elevation gain (well worth it for the views!) and more mellow flat paths as we descend towards Cataract Falls. We can take our sweet time, stop as much as we want, and make sure it's a fantastic afternoon for everyone! Here is the Alltrails Link.

Attire:
