Spend the weekend sipping wine, exploring stunning beaches, and soaking in those classic island vibes with an amazing crew. Whether you’re here for the wine, the adventure, or just to yell, “It’s the FREAKIN’ Catalina Wine Mixer!”—this is a trip you don’t want to miss.

Sign up under this event if you prefer hotel accommodations. Those who choose this option are encouraged to join the camping group for all festivities and meals at the campsite. So, it's the same awesome weekend, but with the comfort of a hotel room! You can expect beach parties, live music, wine tastings, and island adventure galore, plus an optional kayaking and snorkeling excursion to explore Catalina’s crystal-clear waters and hidden sea caves.

We'll be staying at a lovely historic and centrally located hotel in the heart of Avalon. Just steps from the beach, shops, and restaurants, this charming hotel offers a prime location with easy access to island adventures while providing a comfortable and convenient stay for those who prefer hotel accommodations.

Please note: Those that choose this route are encouraged to hangout with the UD camping group throughout the weekend and for camp meals :)

Walking is the primary form of transportation on the island. Other than our feet, there is a shuttle and taxi system, or rental golf carts. For those staying at Hermosa Hotel, keep in mind that most of our meals and group gatherings will be at Hermit Gulch Campground, which is about a 20 minute walk from the hotel. Or, you can choose to opt for the shuttle option for a small fee, which is a great alternative if you’d rather save your energy.

DAY 1 | Friday

Friday, May 30 – Arrival & Opening Night

Afternoon: Welcome to LA! Take the ferry to Avalon with the group at 2pm.
Evening: Your host will cook a delicious dinner back at the campsite location, just a walk away from the hotel.
8:00 PM - 10:00 PM: Movie Screening of Step Brothers at Avalon Theatre – Watch the movie that started it all inside the historic Casino Theatre (must get movie tickets for the screening - see the website for more info)
9:30 PM - 12:00 AM: Beach Party at Descanso Beach Club – Open to the public, so we’ll dance the night away under the stars.

DAY 2 | Saturday

Saturday, May 31 – Island Adventure & Wine Mixer Fun

Morning: Your host will make a delicious breakfast at the campsite this morning! Take a quick morning walk to the campsite to come and get some delicious eats!
Late Morning/Early Afternoon: Kayaking OR snorkeling excursion.
- Paddle through sea caves and spot marine life (optional activity, ask host for details if interested)
3:00 PM - 9:00 PM: Live Entertainment at Descanso Beach Club.
- For those that opt into the optional GA wine tasting tickets, this wine tasting event is included with your ticket. BUT even without GA tickets, we can still chill at the beach club lawn and soak in the lively atmosphere and live music!
Evening: Sunset stroll, beach hangout, and dinner in town before heading back to the wine club for more music and dancing!

DAY 3 | Sun

Sunday, June 1 – "Back on the road again"

Morning: Leisurely breakfast at the campsite - take a morning walk and come join us for breakfast!
Afternoon: Ferry back to the mainland – say goodbye to Catalina until next time

How the Catalina Wine Mixer Works

Public Access & Ticket Info

The Catalina Wine Mixer is open to the public, meaning you can enjoy much of the atmosphere, live entertainment, and festivities without purchasing a ticket. However, if you want to participate in exclusive experiences like wine tastings and VIP lounges, you’ll need a General Admission (GA) or VIP ticket - Click here for more info on how to purchase tickets.

Please note: the movie screening of Step Brothers is a ticketed event that can either be purchased on its own.

What’s Open to the Public:

Friday, May 30

Beach Party at Descanso Beach Club (9:30 PM - 12:00 AM) – Open to everyone, no ticket required
Step Brothers Movie Screening (8:00 PM) – This is a movie event that can be purchased on its own for around $30, or included with VIP ticket. See the link above for tickets

Saturday, May 31

Descanso Beach Club open (10:00 AM - 1:00 PM) – Open to the public before ticketed events begin
Live Entertainment on the Lawn (3:00 PM - 9:00 PM) – Confirmed as open to the public, so you can enjoy the music and energy of the Wine Mixer without needing a ticket

What Requires a Ticket (GA or VIP):

Opening Bash at the Casino (Friday, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM)
Wine Tastings at Descanso Beach Club (Saturday, 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM)
VIP Lounge at Catherine’s Terrace (Saturday, 2:00 PM - 9:00 PM)

So, Do You Need a Ticket?

If you just want to soak up the scene, dance at the Friday night Beach Party, and listen to live music on Saturday, you DO NOT need a ticket.
If you want access to wine tastings, exclusive areas, and VIP perks, a GA or VIP ticket is required.
If you just want to explore Catalina, you can still enjoy the town, beach, and hikes without any tickets
The Catalina Wine Mixer is designed so everyone can enjoy the experience—whether you’re going all-in with VIP access or just hanging out and enjoying the music for free!
