Join us for a magical evening under the stars as we explore the wonders of astronomy, uncover cosmic connections, and gaze into the night sky’s celestial mysteries.
What is the Lick Observatory?
The Lick Observatory is one of the Bay Area's shining stars when it comes to astronomy. It is a historic astronomical research facility located atop Mount Hamilton in the Bay Area, California. Operated by the University of California, it was founded in 1888 and is known for housing the world's first permanently occupied mountaintop observatory. It features several telescopes, including the 3-meter Shane Telescope, and has contributed to major astronomical discoveries.
What to Expect
Lick Observatory hosts world-renowned astronomers at the summit of Mount Hamilton for a night with the “stars” you won’t forget! Enjoy a fascinating astronomy lecture and experience breathtaking views through the historic 36-inch Great Lick and 40-inch Nickel telescopes. Among all the fun, and when everyone's stomach's begin rumbling, your host will offer a light picnic to keep you going!
